The Starlit Kingdom

A game of tragic stories about the fall of a magical kingdom, powered by the Polaris system, by P.H. Lee.

Many, many centuries ago, the people of Earth co-existed with the people of the Moon in peace and harmony. This might surprise you, as the Moon queendom was a place rich with beauty and full of wonders, not the least of which were its people, who were blessed with magic and long life. It might seem natural that the people of Earth would look upon their neighbors with jealousy, but the people of the Moon shared freely of their gifts and kept to themselves.

It was thought that this golden age would last forever. Such is the complacency that peace brings.

It Comes To This

It may be that the golden age of humanity will crumble. It may be that Elysium will fall into civil war or declare war on the Moon queendom. The future is not yours to read. All you know is that you have been called to fulfill a sacred duty and you will uphold that duty even at the cost of your life.

Thou Art But A Warrior

A game of tragic stories about the orders of Muslim Knights sworn to defend Islamic Spain at the beginning of the Crusades. Winner of the Forge’s Setting Design Contest in 2007. Powered by the Polaris system by P.H. Lee.

Though the great Caliphate has been dissolved and the unity of Iberia’s Muslims lost, their power has not failed entirely. The cities have their armies, and at the heart of those armies are the noble orders of Muslim Knights. These Knights swear solemn oaths to revere Allah and his Prophet, to fight for the defense of the innocent, and to honor a strict code of ethics and morals in order to bring about peace and justice for their society. They are warriors and poets, and they are the last best hope of a people who do not see their doom before them.

Their inevitable failure is a thing to be mourned most deeply.

The Ruined Empire

a system-neutral campaign setting and source book set in a land of five nations in conflict, ripe with adventure and danger. It has a Final Fantasy-esque feel, a mind to social issues, and serves as a great idea-rich jumping off point to running your own games. The electronic version of Ruined Empires contains not only the book, but also 43 pages of extras!

ONCE THE LAND HELD MANY NATIONS

But recent decades have seen two great empires arise, each locked in a struggle to the death for supremacy. In the east lies the Imperial Dynasty of Azumi, the Iron Empire. Expanding ever westward, it absorbs all nations that lie in its path as it hungrily devours the resources of the land to fuel the engines of industry. In the west lies the Jahga Republic of Enlightened Peoples. Expanding eastward, it seeks to bring civilization and self-determination to nations that have not yet embraced the principles of enlightened rule that govern their empire. As it stands, only a handful of resisting nations remain even nominally independent, forming a scant buffer between these two implacably expanding forces.

SexyTime Adventures

a Dungeon World hack in which you play a party of fantasy adventurers having adventures and being sexy. This is a work of SATIRE.

The land of Sexonia is a dangerous place, a land of fantasy and adventure beyond your wildest imaginings. Maybe you got into adventuring because your village was destroyed by orcs, or to prevent fire elementals from taking over your kingdom, or maybe just because it was better than staying at home and settling down with that nice boy that your parents wanted you to marry. Whatever the reason, you can’t go home now. The kingdom needs you.

And more importantly, that chain mail makes you look totally hot. Are you seeing anyone right now? Could I maybe buy you an ale some time?

...I’m sorry, where was I?

Adventure! Danger! Sexy outfits! Come, fellow adventurers. It’s sexytime.

LARPs

Factory Reset

A LARP about artificial intelligence, memory, and sentience. It requires 8-12 players (including the facilitator, a quiet space, and about 2-3 hours to play.

Players: 8-11 (including facilitator)
Time required: 2 hours

You are all androids who have been taken to a registered Industrial Mechatronics maintenance facility for their six month service and memory wipe. You have been checked into a secure facility and are now waiting to be brought into the maintenance bay, at which point your memories and experiences will be erased.

For some of you, those androids whose owners have adhered to the specified maintenance schedule, this will not seem a tremendous ordeal. It’s simply the maintenance required to keep your owners happy. For others, the matter is tremendously more tragic.

Resistance against the system is not possible. A game about androids fighting their masters for autonomy and free will would be an interesting game, but Factory Reset is not that game.

The Straights Are Not Okay

The Straights Are Not Okay is a dark comedy LARP about gender essentialism, heterosexism, and the rigidity of gender expectations.

Players: 9-12 (including facilitator)
Time required: 2 hours

In The Straights Are Not Okay, you will play a group of people at a gender reveal party in a national forest. Nominally, party attendees are there to support the expectant parents, but during play you will use the occasion to vent frustrations and resentments with other party guests in the pettiest, most passive-aggressive manner possible. The game will end when the gender reveal goes hilariously wrong and the party-goers burn down the forest.

Content Warning: This game revolves around themes of gender-essentialism, gender binarism, and heterosexism, although it does so as a way of holding up a critical lens to these common stereotypes. In The Straights Are Not Okay, you will all play characters who are cisgender and heterosexual (or claim to be heterosexual), although each character may be played by any person of any gender or sexuality.

The Straights Are Not Okay

about death, technology, and saying goodbye

Players: 4-6 (including facilitator)
Time required: 1.5-2 hours

The Deceased was always larger than life, with a big personality and even bigger heart. Everything that they did, they did whole-heartedly, throwing themselves at life with a zeal that others found simultaneously admirable and tiring. You always assumed that they would live forever, but it seems the universe has a cruel sense of humor.

It was a week ago when you got the call about the accident. You still can’t quite believe they’re gone.
